Descrizione

We are glad to announce the first workshop on “FAst Timing Applications for nuclear physics and medical imaging” to be held in Acireale (Catania) on September 3-5, 2019. The Workshop is aimed at gathering together scientists working either in fundamental physics or medical applications with common background in the Fast Timing technology.

The Workshop is organized by the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN)- Sezione di Catania, Laboratori Nazionali del Sud (LNS), by the Dipartimento di Fisica e Astronomia “Ettore Majorana” di Catania di Catania and by the Accademia degli Zelanti e dei Dafnici di Acireale.

General Information and scientific program

The workshop will focus on the most recent developments of Fast Timing techniques for applications of radiation detectors in the fields of nuclear physics and medical applications.

The scientific program will have dedicated sessions to outline recent progress on both experimental and theoretical aspects of the following topics:

Scintillators and Photodetectors for fast timing

Readout electronics for ultrafast detectors

Solid state detector technology for fast timing

Processing of time stamped data

Precise event time tagging in high luminosity accelerators

Towards picoseconds Time of Flight (TOF) resolution

Time of flight positron emission tomography (TOF-PET) for Medical Imaging and Monitoring of Hadron therapy

Participation to the workshop by students, postdocs, technical staff and engineers is strongly encouraged. Participants wishing to present a contribution may submit an abstract directly on this website in the registration subpage. Abstracts will be selected by the advisory committee. The deadline for submission is June 20th, 2019. Anyone wishing to attend the workshop is invited to register on the registration subpage.

The meeting will be held in the historical siege of the the Accademia degli Zelanti e dei Dafnici, in the picturesque town of Acireale, near the Etna volcano and on the shoreline close to Catania.

More details are available in the section circulars of this website.
