Second LHCb Heavy Ion Workshop : Exploring Matter with Precision Charm and Beauty Production Measurements in Heavy Nuclei Collisions

Europe/Rome
Chia Laguna
Description

This is the second edition of a workshop between the LHCb collaboration and the theory community in the sector of Heavy Ions and Fixed Target physics.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the results from LHCb in the field in the past years (compared to other experiments) and identify relevant measurements to be done with the LHCb detector in the near- and long-term future.

The meeting will touch four main areas

  • Fixed-target physics with SMOG and beyond
  • Physics with pA collisions
  • Physics with AA collisions
  • Outlook on future detector development and measurements

The format will be with two sessions of talks early in the morning and in the late afternoon with a long break in the middle in order to motivate discussions and interactions among the participants in a nice environment.

The workshop will start on Wednesday 4th September 2019 at in the late morning and will end on Friday 6th September 2019 in the late afternoon.

Given the particular location, a number of rooms has been blocked for the workshop. However, participants should contact the hotel directly to confirm the arrival and departure day and the choice of room. Half board will be provided by the hotel and a packed lunch will be provided in between sessions (to be confirmed).

Transportation to/from the hotel from the airport can be arranged if a minimum number of requests is reached. It will be possible to hire cars at the airport if booked in advance and at the hotel itself, should you arrive there by other means.
