      Thesis short Abstract

The UA9 experiment at CERN’s SPS H8 beamline uses a narrow, low-divergence proton beam (200–400 GeV, 1.2×10⁶ particles per spill) to investigate beam merging via bent crystal coherent processes such as Channeling and Volume Reflection. A one-beam, three-crystal setup was implemented, where the first two crystals produce channeled beamlets that converge at a third crystal for merging. Initial studies through June 2024 characterized crystal properties, while October 2024 tests focused on converging beamlets and double-Channeling, requiring precise optical and beam alignment. From June 2025 onward, the final experiment confirmed that the recombined beamlets were clearly distinguishable from background and in excellent agreement with simulations.
