NuSym22, X International Symposium on Nuclear Symmetry Energy

Europe/Rome
Catania (Italy)

Catania (Italy)

Giuseppe Verde (CT), Maria Colonna (LNS)
Description

The event is organized and supported by the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN), Sezione di Catania and Laboratori Nazionali del Sud, and by the Physics and Astronomy Department "E. Majorana" of the University of Catania.

The last in-person meeting was in 2019 in Da Nang (Vietnam). Due to the pandemic, a virtual edition was organized in 2021. We look forward to an in-person meeting again in 2022, to renew collaborations and inspire new projects.

The scientific sessions will be held in the Aula Magna, the main conference room of the Physics and Astronomy Department "E. Majorana" of the University of Catania.

The symposium will address experimental and theoretical investigations of the equation of state of asymmetric nuclear matter. Such investigations include efforts in nuclear structure, nuclear reactions and heavy-ion collisions, as well as in astrophysical observations of compact stars and associated phenomena (neutron stars and core collapse supernovae, among others). Significant implications of gravitational wave signals, soft X-rays, astro-particle physics and neutrino observations will be discussed.

Students and postdocs are especially encouraged to participate and contribute to the scientific sessions of the symposium.

Registration is already open and will close on September 4, 2022.

The last day of the meeting, September 30, will be devoted to a satellite workshop on transport models, organized by the TMEP (Transport Model Evaluation Project) collaboration, in the tradition of previously organized NuSym editions.

Further details about this satellite meeting will be available on a dedicated section of this web site (link).

Topics of the NuSym conference:

  • Nuclear Equation of State (EoS) and Symmetry Energy in laboratory experiments and in astrophysical observations
  • Nuclear structure and dynamics
  • Structure and clustering of nuclear systems and matter under extreme conditions
  • Physics of compact stars
  • Isospin dependence of the nuclear interaction
  • Relevance of gravitational waves and astro-particle experiments on the EoS of nuclear matter
  • Nucleosynthesis phenomena in isospin asymmetric matter
  • Supernovae neutrinos and the EoS of the neutrinosphere
  • Astro-particle experiments
  • Future investigations at existing and future accelerator facilities
  • Transport model simulations of HIC
  • New detector developments

Abstract submission will be possible until July 25, 2022.

The scientific sessions will consist of invited talks and contributed presentations among the submitted abstracts. Notification of acceptance of the submitted abstract will be sent on August 1st, 2022.
