GravNet Weekly

Europe/Rome

1) GravNet Communications

a) MOU and Bylaws: University of Bonn is checking the documents. once ready Matthias will share it.

b) Data Management Plan: What is the status? Signatures missing? Matthias will check.

2) Gravnet International Meeting

a) Registered people:

irfan ahmed, Dmitry Budker, Yifan Chen ,Shafaq Gulzar Elahi, Claudio Gatti, Daniel Gavilán-Martín, Jordan Gué, Younggeun Kim, Giovanni Mazzitelli, Mark McCulloch, Jamie McDonald, José Reina-Valero, Kristof Schmieden, Pedro Schwaller, Michael Tobar, Oleg Tretiak, Teng Wu, Changhao Xu

--------------------

b) Make a list of speakers and send an email with a reminder to register and asking for a 15 min talk on their activity and how they would contribute to GravNet (haloscope, BAW, magnets etc.). Claudio will collect email addresses

c) Dima edited the Agenda of the meeting adding talks from us https://indico.him.uni-mainz.de/event/229/timetable/

WP1) Modelling and analysis

a)outcome of last analysis meeting

a.1) list of experiments providing data for HFGW analysis (Quax@LNF, CAPP (check again), ...). Younggeun collects info and data.

a.2) BIMRE chosen for cavity response simulation

a.3) A document will be written with all the details of simulation methods formulas etc. etc.

a.4) We will simulate samples of HFGW signals (theory+BIMRE+ noise)

 b) COncerning the meeting on new ideas, we plan to start with separate meetings. The first could be a dedicated meeting on Magnets as Weber bars that if feasible could be implemented in each magnet of GravNet.

WP2: Cavities

a) We need to decide the shape of the cavities, to chose the modes and the frequencies etc. etc.

b) We need to understand the timescale for a study on simulation of different cavity geometries, determining the caoupling factor for each:

 b.1) Cubic, cylindrical and spherical

b.2) determine coupling factor by varying the aspect ratio of the cavity: R/H

Consider cavities with frequency from 5 to 10 GHz approximately. Height must not exceed the magnets one (about 200 mm). Radius typically from 1 to 2 cm.

c) Matthias will circulate the proposal of GravNet to the collaboration

d) How to couple the power from different cavities:

d.1) simple couplers add signal but also noise. However are broadband. Insertion loss must be checked: moreover only lossy 3 port devices can be reciprocal and matched at all ports (see Pozar).

d.2) Hybrid circuit can add only signal to one port keeping only half of the noise. They are resonant, so not broadband (typically 100 MHz??)

d.3)  We must collect datasheets and existing solutions to decide which is the best one

WP3: Amplification

see slides on the INDICO agenda: Possible configuration of modes of interest for GHz cavity and apossible solution for amplification with twpa is given. typical price for a twpa is  18keuro+taxes

WP4: Network operation

See slides on the INDICO agenda. Proposed a solution from SAFRAN for GPS with high stability and 15 ns resolution. Price for master about 13 keuro.

AOB:

Dima will be in US in May. We should make a new doodle for afternoon meetings.
