Description
Double beta decay is a rare nuclear process that provides valuable insight into neutrino properties and possible physics beyond the Standard Model. Accurate nuclear matrix element (NME) calculations are essential for interpreting related experiments. In this work, we describe the Second Tamm-Dancoff Approximation (STDA) and the Equation of Motion Phonon Method (EMPM), focusing on their treatment of nuclear excitations relevant to 2νββ decay.
EMPM and STDA may provide consistent NME predictions but require center-of-mass correction and inclusion of 2p–2h configurations. The quenching of 𝑔𝐴 could be explained if both methods are applied consistently.
