Description
An analysis of the LHC Run 2 pp collision dataset with at least two charged leptons, one of which is a 𝜏-lepton, with the ATLAS detector is presented. This analysis focuses on the region in which the visible invariant mass of the two leptons ranges from the Z boson resonance to high-mass. Two primary results are reported: a search for new heavy particles coupling to 𝜏-leptons and 𝑏-quarks and a measurement of the unfolded differential Drell-Yan cross section in the high-mass range. Moreover, projections on an additional measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry in the mass range around the Z resonance will be presented.
