Young Researchers Integrability School

In view of the ongoing pandemic, the upcoming edition of the Young Researchers Integrability School and Workshop, on the topic of Symmetries in Quantum Field Theory, will not take place in Febraury 2021 at NORDITA.

While we plan to hold the school at NORDITA in the near future, we have arranged to hold pedagogical lectures in conjunction with this conference. The lectures will be integrated within the conference program and take place in person, in Padova (see the speakers list and the upcoming program page). Further lectures and tutorials may take place in virtual form in the following week (to be confirmed).

Due to the pandemic, we will be unable to host all participants in a dedicated structure as it is tradition for this school. However, we are happy to inform interested students that there is a possibility of financial support for those willing to commit to attending all lectures and tutorials. This is reserved to PhD students and exceptional MSc students.

Topic and Scope: Symmetries in Quantum Field Theory

The lectures will cover different aspects of symmetries in quantum field theory, and how they can be used to improve our understanding of a model, in some cases even allowing for its exact solution. The study of symmetries is in a sense as old as theoretical physics itself, going back to the Kepler Problem. Over the last few years, symmetries have found many applications in quantum field theory and in gravity. The lectures will cover in particular those symmetries (such as conformal invariance and integrability) that can be used to probe exactly a theory, as well as the so-called "asymptotic" symmetries which turn out to heavily constrain the allowed structure of interactions.
