Description
After giving a brief introduction of the expected role of polarization
within hydrodynamics, I will describe the difficoulties inherent in
defining a hydrodynamic limit when polarization is present. I will argue
that the only consistent way of surpassing these difficulties is to use
lagrangian techniques, and describe progress in this direction. I
conclude by illustrating the connection between polarization and
dissipation.
