Travel Information
Catania is connected to many Italian and international airports by frequent flights operated by several airlines. Many hotels are located in the heart of baroque Catania, very close to places of unique artistic and cultural interest and easily connected to the airport.
How to reach the City Centre
By public transports: Outside the "Fontanarossa" airport (arrival level) about 30 m on the right side you will find an AMT bus stop . The AMT line 457 (also called "Alibus") runs every 20 minutes, from 5.30 am to midnight, from the Airport to the City Centre and the Central Station route map. You can buy the bus ticket (1€) at the kiosk located inside the terminal or the one right outside the arrival terminal, near the bus stop. Remember to validate your ticket at the automatic counter inside the bus once you get in.
By Taxi: Taxis are available at any time outside the airport. The cost ranges from € 25 to € 35 according to the place to reach. Taxis are also available outside the Central Station. There is also a Radio-taxi service (+39-095-330966
By car: It is not complicated to reach the city center coming from Airports. However, in this case we suggest you to use a good map or a GPS navigation system. Moreover, it could be difficult to find a parking spot. If you are planning to come by car we suggest that you ask if a parking service is available at the hotel.

The workshop will take place in the "Aula Magna" seminar room of the Dipartimento di Fisica e Astronomia and in the Main Conference Room of the Guest House of INFN - Laboratori Nazionali del Sud (see program).
Both the Laboratori Nazionali del Sud and the Dipartimento di Fisica e Astronomia are located inside the Scientific Campus "Città Universitaria" or "Cittadella" (see map).
Shuttle Buses will be organized to conference site. The bus will leave from “Piazza Stesicoro” - Stesicoro Square (see map) each morning at 8:15 am and It will come back from conference site to Piazza Stesicoro at the end of day.
On Friday 9th bus will leave at 15:00 from conference site for a stop in Piazza Stesicoro and a stop at Catania airport, arrival time around 16:00.
It is also possible to get to campus via the BRT bus line; from city center take the bus at the "Stesicoro" bus stop in "Piazza Stesicoro" and get off at the "Cittadella Ovest" bus stop, just 30 meters after campus entrance.
A welcome cocktail will be given on Tuesday 6th evening at 19:00, followed by a concert, both in the "Aula Magna" Seminar Room of the Dipartimento di Fisica e Astronomia.
The Social Diner will take place on Thursday 8th evening at 20:30 in the restaurant “I Crociferi” in Piazza San Francesco, in the city center, at walking distance from the suggested Hotels. The diner is included in the fee for the participants; price for accompanying person is 35 €.
