Starting-up the LUNA-MV collaboration - second circular

Dear Colleague,

We would like to invite you to participate to the Workshop: "Starting-up the LUNA-MV collaboration" which will take place on February 6-8th, 2013 at the "Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso" in Italy.

We are working to enlarge the community of nuclear astrophysicists involved at the Gran Sasso Laboratory for the LUNA-MV project. Goal of the workshop is to define the scientific priorities as well as the structure and the task sharing of the new collaboration. A possible timeline of the project will also be discussed. We warmly invite you to attend the meeting hoping you can find interest in the project which is foreseen to produce top-physics results for the next 20 years.

Workshop program is now online. The format will be topical sessions with a program of invited and contributed talks. You can check sessions, talks and speakers on the workshop website in the “Timetable” section. An underground tour of LNGS and workshop dinner will be arranged on the second conference day (February 7th).

We kindly ask you to please register for the workshop on the website http://luna-mv.lngs.infn.it  not later than January 25, 2013. When registering you will be asked a few questions about logistics in order to help the organizers to plan and arrange all things. By the way, you will be asked also to select one of the hotels that we have contacted for the workshop, but please note that you will have to contact the hotels personally in order to place your reservation. Furthermore, once you have booked your flights, if you could send your foreseen arrival time in L’Aquila this will be very much appreciated: you can email the organizers at luna-mv-secretary@lngs.infn.it.

Looking forward to meeting you in Gran Sasso.

Starting-up the LUNA-MV collaboration - First circular

Dear Colleague,

We would like to invite you to participate to the Workshop: "Starting-up the LUNA-MV collaboration" which will take place on February 6-8th, 2013 at the "Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso" in Italy.
Since more than 20 years the LUNA Collaboration has been performing direct measurements of cross sections of the Hydrogen burning in the underground laboratory of Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (LNGS). Based on the success of this research activities, the collaboration is now ready for a new challenge: the LUNA-MV project. The project aims at measuring the astrophysical key-reactions 3He(4He,gamma)7Be, 12C(alpha,gamma)16O, 13C(alpha,n)16O and 22Ne(alpha,n)25Mg using a MV scale machine that is going to be installed at LNGS and new generation equipments (targets, gamma and neutron detectors).

To put this project in place we are working to enlarge the community of nuclear astrophysicists involved at the Gran Sasso Laboratory.

The web site for the Workshop is: luna-mv.lngs.infn.it
and the registration will open on November 26th, 2012.
Please share this piece of information with your colleagues.
