Description
Precise determinations of the cross section between 3 GeV and 4.5GeV as
planned in the near future at BESS III can provide an important input
for an improved determination of the charmed quark mass. The
necessary experimental and theoretical ingredients are presented.
As a second topic the possibilities for direct resonant production
of chi_c1 and chi_2 in electron-positron annihilation at BESS III will be
explored and possible backgrounds will be studied.
