The Laboratori Nazionali del Sud (LNS) are one of four national laboratories of Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN). The research centre was founded in 1976 and now around 150 people work there. These include research scientists, technological scientists, technicians, administrative staff, PhD students, university students and grant-holders. Research activities mainly focus on nuclear physics and elementary particles atrophyisics. The LNS is also a facility where different types of instrumentation are developed using advanced technology.
