Poster Quantum Noise Poster Session

Description

Quantum noise broadly limits ground-based gravitational-wave detectors. Frequency-dependent squeezing has been implemented at LIGO and Virgo and is used to improve shot noise and radiation pressure noise. Future detectors like Cosmic Explorer require ever greater levels of squeezing enhancement to reach their design sensitivity, though integrating squeezing into these complex high-power interferometers presents many significant challenges. We are designing and building a squeezed light source and coupled cavity set up at Syracuse with the goal of addressing squeezer-cavity integration issues with a focus on squeezing in the presence of mode mismatch. In addition, we are researching techniques to mitigate operational issues with the on-site squeezers such as crystal grey-tracking.
