Description

Parametric instability is a serious issue for the stable observation
operation of current and future gravitational wave detectors.
Although previous studies by K. Yamamoto et al.
(Journal of Physics: Conference Series 122 (2008) 012015)
have suggested that
KAGRA's parametric instability is less serious than
that of LIGO and Virgo, a dedicated mitigation method for KAGRA is still
needed. To address this, we report that our finite element method
simulation identified unstable modes in KAGRA, and our experiment at
Toyama checked the predicted frequency and shape of these modes.
