Description

The SEM project (Stratosphere's Environmental Monitoring) reproduced, in an educational format and using modern measuring instruments for ionizing particles, the assessment of the extraterrestrial nature of the cosmic radiation, the measurement of the Regener-Pfotzer peak [1-3] and the existence of particle showers postulated for the first time by Bruno Rossi in 1932 [4]. The experiment, carried out by the Cariati Scientific High School in collaboration with INFN-OCRA and universities, involved upper secondary school students within the framework of School-Work Training program. In addition to the scientific results, some of which are presented in this talk, the produced a significant educational impact, contributing to the enhancement of the student’s curriculum and scientific skills.
