Lecce: the Carlo V Castle

The Venue hosting the conference is the Castello Carlo V, the Castle of Lecce, a fortress built in the Italian style at the behest of Emperor Charles V. The medieval castle's original structures were incorporated into the walls and ramparts that define its current appearance. The redesign was carried out, between 1537 and 1550, by the military architect Gian Giacomo dell'Acaya.
