Existing data on quadrupole strength in 8Li exceed ab initio calculations by more than an order of magnitude, which, in turn, reproduce accurately B(E2) values in nearby A = 7−9 few-body nuclei, including large values classically associated with molecular rotations of nucleon clusters.
