Travel Information
Catania is connected to many Italian and international airports by frequent flights operated by several airlines. Many hotels are located in the heart of baroque Catania, very close to places of unique artistic and cultural interest and easily connected to the airport.
How to reach the city Centre
By Taxi: Taxis are available at any time outside the airport. The cost ranges from € 40 to € 60 according to the place to reach. Radio Taxi service (+ 39 095 330966 or + 39 0958833) provides better fares, and can be called directly from airport (web site). Taxis are also available outside the Central Station.
By car: It is not complicated to reach the city center coming from the airport. However, in this case we suggest you to use Gmaps or a GPS navigation system. Moreover, it could be difficult to find a parking spot. If you are planning to come by car we suggest that you ask if a parking service is available at the hotel.

The workshop will take place in Aula Conferenze, at the ground floor of the Dipartimento di Fisica e Astronomia and in the Main Conference Room "Aula Migneco" of the Guest House of INFN - Laboratori Nazionali del Sud (see program).
Both the Laboratori Nazionali del Sud and the Dipartimento di Fisica e Astronomia are located inside the Scientific Campus "Città Universitaria" or "Cittadella" (see campus map).
To get to campus via public transport:
- the BRT1 bus line:
from city center take the bus at the "Stesicoro" or "Bellini statua Garibaldi" bus stop and get off at the "Cittadella Ovest" bus stop, just 20 meters after campus entrance. Buses run every 7-12 minutes, ticket must be bought in advance in a “Tabacchi” shop or in newspaper kiosk in city centre. (see web site of BRT1)
- the Underground FCE line:
from city centre take the train at the “Stesicoro (Nesima direction)” station and get off at “Milo” one (Line Map)(timetable). Once outside the station a free bus shuttle (see web site) (shuttle timetable) will bring you at the "Cittadella Ovest" bus stop, just 20 meters after campus entrance. Trains run every 10 minutes, shuttle buses are in connection; ticket can be bought in the automatic machines inside the metro stations.
Accommodation:
We suggest finding accommodation in Catania city center, where there are a lot of hotels and B&B, as well as restaurants and shops. The most suitable hotels are those located near the BRT1 bus stops (see Travel Information), more specifically those near Via Etnea, between "Piazza Stesicoro" and "Viale XX Settembre".
