Crowd for the Environment (C4E) is an industrial research project which aims to develop an innovative framework for monitoring and protecting the environment. In this framework the Italian Aerospace Research Centre (CIRA), coordinating the technical and scientific aspects of C4E, organizes this Workshop focused on nuclear technologies as novel and non-invasive monitoring tools towards the 4.0 revolution in agriculture.

The development of precision agriculture tools is leading to important progresses in agricultural practices realizing the missions “Adaption to climate change” and “Soil health food”, integral parts of the Horizon Europe framework programme beginning in 2021. New machines, IoT sensors in the fields, connected farms and tractors led to the collection of more data and measurements enabling both increased productivity and quality.

The continuous determination of soil moisture dynamics at field scale with non-invasive and contactless measurement techniques is at the time the most promising challenge for optimizing agricultural management and for a sustainable use of water. Recent advances in cosmic-ray neutron probes, gamma-ray monitoring and satellite imagery allow continuous contactless and integrative measurements of hydrological state variables and fluxes boosting breakthrough applications in precision farming. This Workshop will deal with these topics ranging from instrumental aspects, improved data analysis and concrete solutions for water management and environmental protection.

The Workshop is free and held on line. Registration is requested.

After filling the registration form, you will receive an email with the link to join the Workshop.
