Description
Using samples of 106M $\psi(2S)$ events and 226M $J/\psi$ events collected with the Beijing Spectrometer (BESIII) at the Beijing Electron-Positron
Collider, we report preliminary results on charmonium decay and Light
Hadron Spectroscopy. These include $\chi_{cJ}$ to 4$\pi^0$, VV ($V=\omega$ or $\phi$), $\gamma V$ ($V=\omega$, $\rho$ or $\phi$), $\psi(2S) \to \gamma
\gamma J/\psi$, the study of $a_0(980)-f_0(980)$ mixing,
the confirmation of $X(1860)$ in both $\psi(2S)$ and $J/\psi$ data samples
and the confirmation of X(1835) in $J/\psi \to \gamma \eta' \pi^+\pi^-$
decay.
