Description

Due to their self-analyzing decay, the polarization of Λ hyperons has often been indicated as a possible way to access the transversity function h_1^{q}(x) in SIDIS, where it comes coupled to the chiral-odd H_1^{Λ/q}(z) fragmentation function. Such Λ transversity-transmitted polarization has been measured in COMPASS using the data collected with a transversely polarized proton target and a 160 GeV muon beam. The results on the polarization, extracted as function of Bjorken x, relative energy z and Λ transverse momentum p_t, are presented together with their interpretation.
