Description
The laser driven ion acceleration is considered a promising candidate for an ion source for hadron therapy. The reduced cost and size, as well as the intrinsic flexibility of laser ion accelerators compared to the conventional ones can increase the availability of the ion beams and provide particle therapy to a broader range of patients. I will review and discuss different schemes of laser ion acceleration in
connection to the development of the ion beam source for hadron therapy.
