Venice is quite small and any area is less then 30 minutes walking time from Venue ( except Castello and Cannareggio). Hotels in the area called "Accademia" , "San Polo", "Dorsoduro" and "San Marco" are the nearest to the Workshop location ( Accademia bridge or Palazzo Franchetti).
B&B are as well usually quite good in Venice.
Venice is a city always in high demand throughout the year and a pre booking for a large number of rooms is not possible. Availability and prices are dayly changing depending on demand and cancellation.

Padova is less expensive then Venice and ~30-40 minutes train; last minute /day/week hotels in padova in November should be easy to find but obviously the all trip to the Venue would take ~60 minutes .
