Description
Monopoles play a crucial role in the confinement mechanism through monopole condensation and dual superconductivity. Whereas instantons offer a beautiful mechanism for spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry, a direct relation to confinement is not obvious. The purpose of our present study is to show the relations between instantons, monopoles and chiral symmetry breaking by using the overlap fermions as an analytical tool. The exact relations remained unclear in spite of many studies. Therefore we try to clarify the relations with the help of overlap fermions on the lattice. In this seminar, I will present some new results clarifying the relations between instantons, monopoles, and chiral symmetry breaking.
