Description
The Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) is a ground-based gamma-ray observatory operating from some tens of GeV to above 100 TeV that is currently designed and prepared by an international consortium of scientists and engineers around the globe. CTA is proposed to operate an an open observatory with two sites, one in the southern and one in the northern hemisphere, providing full sky coverage with unprecedented sensitivity, angular resolution and energy coverage. In this talk I will introduce the CTA Observatory, present its science prospects and provide a summary of the current project status.
