Description
Lepton-hadron scattering experiments at high momentum transfer have
provided an extensive source of information on the quark and gluon structure
of hadrons both in unpolarized and polarized phenomena.
However, a multi-dimensional description in both momentum and coordinate
space can only be attained through a new generation of high-energy exclusive
processes which, based on proven QCD factorization properties,
allow one to single out new hadronic matrix elements -- the so-called
Generalized Form Factors (GFF) -- that display a much richer structure than
conventional observables.
This talk will explore the transverse spin structure of hadrons within the
new context of hard exclusive reactions, in particular neutral pion production, on both
nucleons and nuclei.
