Weekly Meeting
● Previous week recap
Previous week recap (by person) — week of this meeting
Davide F.
- Completed retrofit of all N66 components for both GEM assemblies; mounted the first GEM stack, but stretching remains non-uniform due to frame bending (alignment pins planned for next attempt).
- Kept GEM2 mechanically ready while waiting to finalize the GEM1 procedure.
- Field-cage mounting stayed blocked while waiting for the LNF punching tool.
- Confirmed cathode arrival at LNF and prepared for assembly.
- Advanced copper box design (near completion) and scheduled a joint review with Cesidio.
- Progressed PRA update with NIER (received request for details; provided the needed information).
- Sent RS procurement order for pre-commissioning items and started moving DAQ equipment from Hall F to LNF.
- Prepared HV underground validation and LN2 test execution (blocked by missing wheel adapters).
- Maintained oxygen sensor procurement escalation (supplier re-pinged; second vendor contacted).
- Logged key meetings: gas meeting (Kentaro Super-K proposal) and INFN committee talk (directional DM).
Giorgio
- Brought gain estimation (muons + V-bond GEM) close to completion; all ingredients for a V-bond saturation paper are now available.
- Retested PMTs for repeatability; Federico produced a comprehensive test procedure; identified an additional broken PMT.
- Confirmed CERN cathodes arrival and planned collection on Friday.
Stefano
- Took ownership of coordinating the PMT test campaign, targeting a start in Frascati from Tue 21 Apr.
- Isolated the DAQ camera timeout issue to the camera itself and outlined a software recovery path; planned a “bright setup” validation test.
- Confirmed trigger module update installation/test at LNGS (HdM) for the morning of 14 Apr and prepared network infrastructure.
Giulia
- Completed CYGNO-04 GEM and field-cage simulations and progressed toward cathode/PMMA and other components.
- Upgraded LIME 55-Fe simulations using full source geometry inputs to support improved digitisation optimisation.
- Scheduled the simulation meeting for today at 14:00.
● DavideP report
Test of PMTs:
- tutorial for the test procedures and data analysis with Stefano and Rita S in the next days;
- organise a first session of tests;
AU team: check back with Robert Gregorio about:
- RAD7 shipping from LNF
- Radon Studies
General Meeting on Thursday 23 at 14.00;
Meeting with INFN referees in the week of May 4th
● DavideF report
-
GEM tensioning: no clear mitigation strategy has been identified yet. The current tensioning appears acceptable, though not ideal, so the plan is to test it before deciding on further corrective actions.
-
Copper box movement in Hall F: company feedback received; the quoted cost is 6.8 k€ on the INFN budget for transportation only.
-
Hall F internal handling: a portable crane will also be needed for movement inside Hall F, with an expected cost of about 2 k€ on the GSSI budget.
-
Dewar: currently at the LNGS workshop to be retrofitted with wheels. It should be ready in about 2 weeks for testing; Maccarrone and a colleague are expected to come to LNGS to help with setup.
-
DAQ / pre-commissioning: all DAQ equipment is expected to arrive at LNF today, ready for pre-commissioning.
-
Oxygen sensor: a new vendor has been identified, with a price about 2 k€ higher; proceed with this option.
-
CYGNUS-K: next working group meeting Apr 27th
● Giorgio report
Analysis
- Meeting happened
- No oxygen in Run4 low gain. Slowly moving on
- Digitisation optimisation harder than it looked but ongoing by Luan. He will also move to ER/NR discrimination
- Alasdair contacted for 3D. Busy. Maybe next week news
LNF
- Rita Sousa contacted to analyse PMT
- Federico should soon provide updated code and readme with PMT characterisation
- I should retireve GEMs and cathode from Magazzino today. Tomorrow inspection
- Giulia should have the ospitalità accepted (no request from any other one)
- When could PMT test start?
- Request to produce tool to make holes on field cage sheet sent to officina
Papers
- Finalizing data analysis for VBond saturation paper
- Waiting for reply from pubcomm for FC paper (?)
● Stefano report
Rb-83 source:
- Response from Munster collegues: they are available to give us the source for free but they were worried by possible constrains on the total actavity of the radionuclide in the labs; moreover they asked as to send them the proper source container as the one used in Xenon.
- I checked with Roberto Corrieri: the limit is far above the current activity of the Rb-83 sources in the labs and far above the activity of the source currently in possession of the Munster collegues
- I asked to Riccardo Biondi the specification of the source container to eventually replicate it
DAQ update:
- The problem with the camera is confirmed to be cause by the camera itself. Possible correlated with the amount of light in the pictures.
- I developed what I believe is a fix but it's still not confirmed as as soon as we lowered the gain in the MANGo datataking the problem disappeared.
Gas system:
- We couldn't find the Renga's valves in HdM or at LNGS
Trigger module:
- Last week we could not finalize the tests with the Trigger Module as it was not possible to test the communication the DAQ server without the MAC address
- Solved but Herman asked to be present when the tests will be performed. He will be back from traveling at the end of this week
● Giulia report
- last simulation meeting: Giulia's report on Field Cage and GEM simulation
- Some details of the geometry still not up to date, will check with Davide F. if the present CAD can be integrated in geant4 or the geometry can be simply implemented by hand
- Now working on the simulation of the 55Fe in LIME with a more realistic geometry of the calibration system
