Description
NUSES is a space mission hosting two scientific payloads, Zirè and Terzina, both characterized by an innovative SiPM-based readout system. Zirè will measure fluxes of electrons, protons, and light nuclei from a few to hundreds of MeV, and will explore new techniques for MeV photon detection and MILC signal monitoring. Terzina will observe near-UV and visible emissions from the Earth’s limb on nanosecond timescales. It will test the feasibility of detecting Cherenkov light from extensive air showers produced by ultra-high-energy cosmic rays (UHECRs) or Earth-skimming high-energy neutrinos. This presentation will outline the current status of the NUSES mission design and highlight its key scientific and technological objectives.
