Located in the heart of Bari’s Umbertino district, the Palazzo dell’Acqua, also known as the Palazzo dell’Acquedotto Pugliese, is one of the city’s architectural landmarks. Built between 1925 and 1932, it was designed by the engineer Cesare Vittorio Brunetti to serve as the headquarters of the Apulian Aqueduct Authority.

The building's architectural style combines the solidity of reinforced concrete with a neo-Romanesque facade in white ashlar stone, echoing the finest traditions of Apulian architecture. The interior is a celebration of water, expressed in every artistic detail: from frescoes and carved woodwork to colored glass, mother-of-pearl inlays, custom-designed furniture, and elaborate chandeliers.

This richly decorated interior is the work of artist and designer Duilio Cambellotti, who brought together elements of Art Nouveau and Liberty styles to create what is often described as a "secular cathedral of water." Originally a technical and administrative center, the palace now also houses a museum dedicated to the history of the Apulian aqueduct, with exhibition halls, a multimedia library, and conference rooms.
