Sensor’s properties:
Bigger size:
- could be advantageous > 10x10 cm2, mitigate radiation pb of mother board
- could lead to change in technology (60 nm and process) more complicated and need more more manpower
- can assess bigger size just extended one side e.g. few columns x 2-4 cm sensor
- assemble different sensor in a more cleaver way (flexible cable or gluing process)
-> start with a reasonable size 1x1 cm2 for the demonstrator
Range:
- sensor should be able to measure also up to Fe ions
- thanks to pre-scaling of the clock, able to adapt the range for a given experiment.
- need to make tests under beam conditions with different ions/energies (up to Fe @ 700 MeV/u)
- better reducing the spatial resolution (increasing pixel size).
- Increasing the ADC bit depth for better Z identification
- checking whether it is possible to increase further more the range (up to now 500 - 800 ke-)
-> larger range with better Z identification with less good spatial resolution
DAQ:
- need a DAQ, self triggered, external trigger or trigger less
- time information ?
-> start for self triggered
Application:
- for high energy physics (MIP)
- for medical and space application (high ionising particles)
-> in synergy with the FOOT project
-> depend on the contour of STRONG2025
Environment:
- high magnetic field (MRI) conditions
-> for medical applications ?
Other laboratories:
-> involved other lab ?
