We will present the study of five-dimensional gauge lattice models with anisotropic couplings which can lead to a stable four-dimensional phase. This phase, called Layer phase, combines the usual features of the gauge symmetry (broken or unbroken) on the four-dimensional subspace with the confinement along the extra dimension. The Layer phase could be proposed as a way to consider, from the lattice point of view, the field localization on a brane.
