Description

Since the discovery of gravitational waves from coalescing black holes, it has become crucial to better understand gravitational two-body dynamics and associated gravitational radiation. In this talk, I will treat general relativity (GR) akin to a quantum field theory (QFT) and I will show how modern amplitudes techniques can successfully be applied to gravitational waves physics to extract observables relevant for the GR two-body dynamics involving Schwarzschild black holes. In particular, I will focus on the soft graviton theorem, which is relating different scattering amplitudes in QFT, and discuss how it can be used, together with the classical eikonal exponentiation, to analytically compute waveforms and radiative observables such as the spectrum of emitted energy.
