Seminari di gruppo IV

Gr.IV seminar: Christoph Ternes (GSSI) - "Probing the Standard Model and beyond with neutrino scattering"

Description

Neutrino scattering provides a powerful probe of the Standard Model at low energies and a sensitive window to new physics. I will discuss how processes such as neutrino–electron and coherent neutrino–nucleus scattering test electroweak interactions and constrain non-standard interactions. In particular, I will highlight the role of these measurements in probing neutrino electromagnetic properties, focusing on magnetic moments, neutrino milli-charges and neutrino charge radii, which are the only non-zero properties present even in the standard model. I will discuss searches with current experiments and the sensitivity reach of a future xenon based experiment such as DARWIN.
