18:15 → 18:35 Exploring the diverse applications of Carbon nanotubes in sensors, biology and materials science

This talk allows for a comprehensive exploration of the wide range of applications of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) across various fields in which we work. We propose a novel concept of UV light detector to monitor the absorption of UV light with improved sensitivity. It will consist of vertically aligned Carbon Nanotubes (VA-CNTs) as photocathode to emit electrons through photoelectric effect after absorbing the UV light, and an electron counter (APD and/or MCP) to detect these emitted electrons. VA-CNTs are also exploited as an effective platform to kill multidrug-resistant bacteria. We also develop high-performance nano-composites for 3-D printing using CNTs.

18:45 → 19:05 Multipole expansion in gravity: from Newton to Einstein

The multipole expansion is an effective way to describe extended objects in a long-distance limit: how much is wrong to consider the Earth a perfect sphere? Within this framework, we can study the gravitational potential generated by a generic mass distribution in Newtonian gravity, or the induced space-time deformation in General Relativity. We will see how these two theories have a different number of degrees of freedom, and how much is special our four-dimensional universe.
