Description
Abstract: b-physics plays a crucial role in the precise determination
of the CKM matrix elements. To this end, hadronic parameters like
the B-meson decay constants and the B-meson bag parameters
have to be computed using a non-perturbative formulation of QCD.
Lattice QCD has the problem that the b-quark is too heavy to be
simulated on presently available lattices. Heavy Quark Effective Theory
(HQET) can be formulated in a fully non-perturbative way and can be used
instead of QCD to compute the relevant parameters at a given order in the
1/m_h expansion. After reviewing the strategy to perform non-perturbative
HQET calculations, I will describe two phenomenological applications:
the computation of the b-quark mass and of the B-meson bag parameters.
