Description
Motivated by both the apparent lack of local extragalactic UHECR source
candidates, beyond Cen A, and the correlation of UHECR anisotropies
with local extragalactic structure, we investigate a scenario in which
these anisotropies are imprinted during propagation. Such a possibility
builds on the idea that galaxies are enshrouded in an extended halo of
hot gas, which we postulate is also magnetised, enabling these objects
to scatter UHECR during their propagation. Telltale signatures of this
scenario are considered.
