EPFL is located in Ecublens, close to the city of Lausanne. It can be conveniently reached by train.

Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) offers convenient train connections from all European cities to Lausanne. Check the the SBB website or mobile app and enter “EPFL” as destination for for train schedules and tickets.

Airports: Geneva International Airport (GVA) and Zurich Airport (ZRH) are the closest international airports to Lausanne. Geneva Airport is approximately 60 km away, while Zurich Airport is around 220 km away. You can then take a train to Lausanne.

Local Transportation: Lausanne is well connected by public transport, including buses and metro lines. Upon arrival at Lausanne's main train station, it is easiest to take a local train (S-Bahn or RE) to Renens, and then take the metro M1 to EPFL. Alternatively, if you want to board a self-driving train, you can take the M2 metro line to Lausanne-Flon, then the M1 directly to the EPFL campus.
