Travel Information
Plane
The nearest airports to the LNGS Laboratories are Fiumicino and Ciampino , close to Rome. In addition, there is the Abruzzo Airport in Pescara. Please note that the only convenient way to reach LNGS from Pescara Airport is by car.If you arrive in one of the Rome airports, you must transfer from the airports to the Tiburtina Bus Station where the buses to L'Aquila depart.
- From Fiumicino you can take the FM1 in the direction of Fara Sabina or Orte. Trains run every 15 minutes and reach Roma Tiburtina after 50 minutes. The fare is €8,00.
- From Ciampino you can use the transfer bus to the railway station Roma Termini in the city center.
From Termini reach Tiburtina Station using the Metro B.
Bus
The bus station in Rome is located aside the Tiburtina railway station. There are daily runs according this timetable at a cost of 8.90€.In L'Aquila the buses arrive at the Collemaggio Bus Terminal. For more information: www.arpaonline.it
Workshop shuttle
On Feb 9th a shuttle will be available at the Collemaggio Bus Terminal in L'Aquila at 18:15 and at 20:00. The shuttle will bring you to the pre-booked hotels.
On Feb. 11th a shuttle will depart from LNGS at 14.30 to the Collemaggio Bus Terminal in L'Aquila where you can reach the bus to Rome at 15:20.
Public transportation from L'Aquila to LNGS
If you do not want to use the workshop shuttle service you can reach LNGS from L'Aquila also with the local public bus M6 You can download the timetables on the website of the transportation company.
Car
The laboratory is located near the Assergi exit of the A24 tollway Teramo-Rome.From Fiumicino Airport follow the signs for Rome.
After about 13 km. take the ramp Naples/L'Aquila (on the right) and follow the signs for the motorway L'Aquila-Teramo/Pescara/Firenze for about 30 km.
Leave the highway at exit 14 and take the motorway A24 L'Aquila-Teramo until Assergi.
After the tollgate turn on the right and follow the signs for the Gran Sasso National Laboratories.
