      The Higgs Boson: Legacy in the ATLAS experiment and its coupling to the b and c quarks

      Since the discovery of the Higgs Boson at the LHC 10 years ago, several measurements have been made to study Higgs physics. Among the most successful of these is the observation of the Higgs boson coupling to the third generation of quarks (b) and leptons (τ).
      For this reason, the most interesting measure at the LHC for the upcoming years will be the Higgs coupling to the second generation of quarks (c) and leptons (μ). This seminar presents the state-of-the-art knowledge of the Higgs boson's coupling to the b-quark and a perspective of the foreseen combined measurement of the Higgs coupling to b and c-quarks exploiting the most advanced algorithms.

      Simulating Microgels

      Microgels are colloidal particles made from cross-linked polymer networks that present a reversible size transition at a critical temperature: the microgel size changes from swollen to a compact state as temperature is raised from below to above the critical temperature. This responsiveness to stimuli has been exploited in a vast range of applications, from biomedical uses such as drug delivery and sensing all the way to the modelling the glass transition. In this talk I'll present the numerical protocol developed by researchers in La Sapienza to successfully simulate microgels with properties similar to those in experiments, deepening our knowledge on their structure and interactions.
