Things to do

Pasadena has several worthwhile sites and areas of interest. Some are within walking distance.

• The Huntington Library and Gardens: A superb art museum. rare book library and botanical garden within walking distance of Caltech.
• The Norton Simon Museum: An excellent collection of European art from the Renaissance to the 20th century, South and Southeast Asian art, and modern and contemporary art.
• The Pacific Asia Museum: An interesting collection of art from Asia and the pacific Islands.
• The Gamble House: A magnificent example of Craftsman style architecture by the architects Greene and Greene. Tours are available.
• South Lake Avenue: a shopping and dining street 2 blocks to the west of the Caltech campus. More info here
