Abstract

Bent crystal are able to channel charged particles between adjacent lattice planes, effectively acting as a waveguide for particle beam. The steering power of such objects may far exceed state of art artificial magnetic dipoles, thus enabling novel solutions and designs for high energy physics experiments. SELDOM proposes to exploit these features in order to achieve measurement of electric and magnetic dipole moment of charmed baryons. Two types of bent crystals must be designed and carefully produced in order to achieve such goal: a first one for extraction of beam halo of the LHC 7 TeV proton beam into a solid target placed before LHCb, and a second one to collect the produced Λc and induce precession of their spin. Both crystals must be realized with nanometric control over bending condition, as well as be compatible with harsh environment in the LHC beampipe. Advancement in the development of these prototype is described show in this presentation, as well as planned future steps.
