Transportation

The Gran Sasso National Laboratory is located in the Gran Sasso National Park (Google map), about 120 kilometers north-east from Rome. The closest airports are Fiumicino (www.adr.it/fiumicino) and Ciampino (www.adr.it/ciampino).

The easist way to get to the laboratory is to rent a car. Basically all the route from the airport to the laboratory is along a high-waw. The route has tools and the speed limit on the high-way is 130 km/h unless  differently indicated.

There is a  conveniente direct connection from the airpots to L'Aquila (Gaspari bus www.gasparionline.it  )   or from the main train Station in Rome (TIburtina station) to L'Aquila (ARPA bus www.arpaonline.it/?page=or_laroma). Both buses stop  in L’Aquila at Hotel Amiternum. From here we raccomend to take a taxi (20 minutes drive to Assergi, >50 euro one way).  Cabs typically park next to the bus stop, or can be requested at the number  +39 0862 25165 ( www.radiotaxilaquila.it).  Alternatively it is possible to reach by public transportation  Collemaggio Terminal Bus (final bus stop of ARPA) and take from there the city bus M6 to Assergi (timetable).
