Description
The study of Quantum Chromodynamics on the lattice is well established at zero baryon density. In the presence of a chemical potential which induces a non-zero baryon density, a "sign problem" appears: the fermion determinant becomes complex and cannot be interpreted as a measure for Monte Carlo sampling. I review recent progress towards overcoming this problem, focusing on a logical approach based on dual variables.
