Topics to be discussed: 1. The areas of Fundamental Science that would be accessible to HiPER 2. The role of the large and small scale facilities. 3. The potential user community. 4. The development of a training plan to ensure the optimum scientific community use of HiPER. 5. The target area specifications including shielding and radiation handling.

09:15 → 09:45 Overall objective of WP12, conclusions from previous meetings, updated detailed list of deliverables and tasks, progress of work, monthly reports, PMC meetings

09:45 → 10:15 Define minimum facility specifications for the Fundamental Science Programme. Define the factors that differentiate HiPER from other current (e.g. NIF, OMEGA) and emerging facilities (e.g. ELI)

10:15 → 10:45 An example: The use of HiPER in Atomic Physics: HOHG in highly charged ions: a scaled scenario

10:45 → 11:15 FLAME a new sub-PW, high-rep-rate laser facility at LNF for ultra-high intensity interaction and material studies

11:30 → 12:00 Identification of the possible user community - impact on society in terms of economic & scientific output

12:00 → 12:30 Specify Target chamber configurations (for multiple target areas) and specifications including shielding and radiation handling (link to WP8)
