Description
Measurements of transverse polarization of lambda hyperons produced in high energy pp collisions may help to address several open issues about lambda production and polarization mechanisms, such as the origin of spontaneous lambda polarization. Longitudinal and transverse polarization has been measured as function of pT and pseudorapity in minimum bias events collected by the ALICE experiment at sqrt(s) = 2.76, and 7 TeV pp collisions. The analysis does not present yet complete details of the systematic studies to draw a definitive conclusion.
