Description
The Yang-Mills gradient flow is a useful tool to investigate gauge theories, which has interesting properties under renormalization. The gradient flow provides a systematic way to define non-local composite operators that are UV finite. In the first part of my talk I will introduce the gradient flow, and I will present its main features. The latest developments have shown how to use the gradient flow to explore symmetries and to define the corresponding Noether currents, even when the symmetry is broken by the regularization. In particular infinitesimal translations can be investigated on the lattice. In the second part of my talk I will present a set of possible strategies based on the gradient flow to renormalize the energy-momentum tensor nonperturbatively.
