Description
I will discuss the properties of a recently introduced dynamical model for the β relaxation of super cooled liquids near the avoided dynamical singularity of Mode-Coupling-Theory. I will consider a simplified version of the original model whose solution requires elementary computations. In spite of its simplicity the model displays many features often observed in experiments and simulations and provides an intuitive explanation of them. Furthermore, when supplemented with the assumption of time-temperature superposition, predictions on the α regime can be made that are al! so in remarkable agreement with the known phenomenology of various quantities, including the α-relaxation time, the diffusivity and the thermal susceptibility.
