Description
The talk will provide an overview of the major steps that led ATLAS and CMS to the historical discovery of a new boson with a mass around 125GeV/c2. The most recent results on the full statistics collected in the first three years of LHC will be presented in some detail together with the additional set of measurements currently underway to assess the properties of the new particle. The implications of this discovery for our current understanding of nature will be lastly discussed.
