Description
In this talk I will describe in the context of gauge/gravity duality how to construct (d+2)-dimensional metrics holographycally dual to the hydrodynamic regime of putative dual fluids living on a (d+1)-dimensional timelike hypersurface foliating the bulk spacetime. I will then illustrate the discussion with the example of a cutoff fluid in asymptotically Anti de Sitter black holes whose thermodynamic and near equilibrium properties interpolate between those of a conformal fluid on the boundary and a Rindler fluid near the horizon, the latter substantially different from the fluid associated to the horizon in the earlier notion of the membrane paradigm. I will then finally discuss how the membrane paradigm is incomplete into capturing many physical aspects of black holes. Throughout the talk I will try to be pedagogical starting from scratch by illustrating the concepts of the holographic principle and the explicit realization of it through the so called AdS/CFT correspondence.
